Premiering in October, a new movie, Iraq for Sale, delves into the government contracts in Iraq, exposing the hidden truth of rampant profiteering in Iraq through the stories of soldiers, whistleblowers, survivors, and families of loved ones lost to corporate greed. We expect that Iraq for Sale will trigger a vital debate on our country’s priorities in Iraq just a few weeks before America votes.

This rubber-stamp Congress has stood by idly while the Bush administration has dragged our country into the war in Iraq. Now that the midterm elections are approaching, Republicans are running away from the White House. But, this Congress wasn’t led blindly into supporting the war in Iraq as their campaign rhetoric would have you believe. Over the last three years, thousands of Americans soldiers have been putting their lives on the line every single day, the war in Iraq has cost American taxpayers over three hundred billion dollars, and Iraq has descended into a dangerous civil war. Yet, this Congress has continued to write blanks checks to private companies with no-bid contracts who are raking in millions of dollars of profits. War is big business and these companies are making a killing in Iraq.
It’s time that Congress comes clean with the American people about the tax dollars being misspent on unsupervised, sweetheart deals for the administration’s cronies. Please join our petition to tell Congress to stop the fraud now, and hold contractors accountable for how they spend our tax dollars.
